AN HEIRLOOM CHRISTMAS: Special activities Dec. 17-20

Celebrate the holidays with Lone Star crafts, live music, a special Christmas game and horse-drawn wagon rides, just like in 1800s Texas.

Tired of the bright flashing lights? Trying to stay away from the swarming crowds sitting in their cars? Come to our outdoor Heirloom Christmas festivities in December and return to the days when Texans celebrated the holidays in a simple without the commercialism.

Our 1880s-decorated houses will be available for visitors to see during the daytime hours on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the entire month of December. Our historic sites will be all dolled up just like they would have been in the 1800s, and as visitors walk around they can see the history of Christmas in Central Texas.

Shopping for unique holiday gifts is available in in our General Store, where you'll find Austin's best selection of history gifts and collectables — perfect for the holidays. Candy canes and other give-aways will be offered to visitors all evening.

A special game for visitors will offer prizes. These are daytime only activities.

From Dec. 17-20, holiday crafts including making ornaments will be among an array of old-fashioned activities available for all guests each day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Sunday, Dec. 20, a performance by the Clickety Cloggers, holiday Texas music music in our century-old dance hall and holiday activities will be offered from 1-7 p.m. — capped by a special appearance of Old Saint Nick, created by an 1800s cartoonist.

Regular admission will charged. No advance reservations are necessary.
